Jack originated the role of Scotty Templeton as a play on Broadway. The playwright Bernard Slade then adapted it into a screenplay. It tells the story of a shallow Broadway press agent learns he is dying just as has his son arrives for a visit. Robby Benson, Lee Remick and Colleen Dewhurst co-star.
